Listed below are tuition waivers offered at Rend Lake College, the award process, and criteria to receive the award.

Agricultural Mechanics Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	4	2 years	Participation in the Regional Agricultural Mechanics Contest. One tuition waiver per each of the four sections of the contest: (Sections: 21, 22, 24, 25). The top scoring senior in each section will become eligible for a 2 year waiver	Must be an Agricultural Mechanics major at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.. Must participate in Skills USA.
Agricultural Production Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	1	2 years	Participation in the Regional Agricultural Business and Production Contest. One tuition waiver will be awarded to the top scoring senior.	Must be an Agricultural Production and Management major at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
Architecture Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	2	2 years	In order for a student to participate in the IL Drafting Educator’s Competition their teacher must sign them up via the IDEA Regional Competition Form. The Architectural Technology tuition waivers are awarded to the first place winners in the Architectural Board and CAD Divisions at the Illinois Drafting Educator’s Regional Competition-Site 18, which is held at RLC	Must be pursuing a degree in Architectural Technology at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
Art Tuition Waiver/Liberal Arts	3	2 years	In-district high school students award waivers on the basis of portfolio submission.	Must be enrolled in a least one art class per semester at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.

Automotive Technology Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	3	2 years	Student must participate in Automotive Technology Tuition Waiver Contest administered during RLC Open House. Contest consists of questions covering all eight areas of ASE testing.	Must be enrolled in the Automotive Technology program or Automotive Technology Occupational Certificate program at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
Culinary Arts Tuition Waiver / Applied Science	1	2 years	Students must be recommended by current or former teacher and write an essay outlining their interest in the Culinary Arts field and their career goals.	Must be pursuing an A.A.S Degree in Culinary Arts at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.
Diesel Technology Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	1	2 years	Participation in Diesel Technology contest at RLC. Written examination including parts and tools identification.	Student must be enrolled in Diesel Technology program at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
GED Student Tuition Waiver / RLC Adult Education and Family Literacy Program	12	2 classes	Students will notify the Adult Education and Family Literacy office that they passed the GED test. Students will complete an application and attach a copy of their GED completion certification or test scores.	Only GED recipients that attended classes offered by RLC’s Adult Education and Family Literacy are eligible. Students must enroll within one calendar year from their GED test date. Classes may be taken in one semester or two consecutive semesters.
Graphic Design Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	1	2 years	Recruitment through student portfolio consisting of 3-5 design pieces demonstrating design, artistic and/or computer layout skills. A waiver will be awarded the student who places in the top five of portfolio contest with consideration of high school GPA.	Must be enrolled in the Graphic Design program at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
Heavy Equipment Tuition Waiver / Applied Science & Technology	1	2 years	Participation in Heavy Equipment contest at RLC. Written examination including parts and tools identification.	Must be enrolled in Agricultural Mechanics Heavy Equipment program at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
High Achievers Scholastic Award Student Services	Unlimited based on eligibility	2 years	Awarded to in-district high school students who achieve a composite ACT score of 27 or higher.	Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 3.0 GPA. Award will cover tuition and books for eligible students.
Industrial Electronics and Maintenance Technology Tuition Waiver/Advanced Technology	2	2 years	Must participate in the Industrial Electronics and Maintenance contest sponsored by the Advanced Technology Department. Students must attend an RLC district high school.	Must be enrolled in the Industrial Electronics and Maintenance degree program at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
Mining Technology	2	2 Years	Waivers are awarded to two of the students who receive the five highest scores on the Mining Technology Test	Must be enrolled in the Mining Technology degree program at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.
Music Performance Tuition Waiver/Liberal Arts	5 (2 instrumental, 2 vocal, 1 general)	1 Year	Selected by application and audition/ interview process. Interested applicants should contact the music department.	Must take and pass 5 credit hours of music classes each semester. One credit hour must be Community Chorus or Instrumental Ensemble. Remaining 4 credit hours must be Music Theory and Aural Skills. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.
P.C.C.S (Partnerships for College and Career Success) Tuition Waiver/Vice President of Career Tech Instruction	16	2 years	Student will complete an application form available from their high school counselor. Selection process completed by March 31st. Waivers are awarded based on their GPA and achievement in core P.C.C.S. courses.	Must enroll in the A.A.S. program for which the tuition waiver was awarded. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.
Presidential Scholastic Award Financial Aid Office	13	2 years	Public high school seniors send a letter of application to RLC. High school counselor must confirm student’s eligibility by providing documentation. Student must be in top 10% of their graduating classes or approved by President.	Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.5 GPA.
Theatre Tuition Waiver/ Liberal Arts	3	1 Year	Interested applicants should contact the Theatre Department. Audition required; must submit three letters of referral from former instructors or employers.	Actively involved with RLC Theatre productions. Must enroll and pass Practicum in Theatre (THEA 1102) and at least one other theatre course per semester (minimum of 5-6 credit hours in theatre courses). Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.
Welding Tuition Waiver / Advanced Technology	3	1 year renewable	Tuition waivers will be awarded based on the quality of welds completed during Rend Lake College’s annual welding contest. Awarded to the top three welding contest participants.	Must be pursuing a degree or certificate in Welding Technology at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
